Movember Madness

Chevron. Handlebar. Fu Manchu. Yes, Movember is upon us and seeing as we’re more than halfway through the month those moustaches should be fully grown! While the facial hair keeps things fun, it’s important to remember that the purpose of it all is to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

If you’re interested in learning more about these issues, please check out what’s available at the Niagara Falls Public Library. We have books, eBooks, audiobooks, documentaries, and magazines with tons of information relating to men’s health. Here’s a short list of some of the interesting material you can borrow from us with your library card:

Men’s Health by various authors
Magazine: available in print or online through RBdigital
This magazine is an obvious choice for anyone looking to learn more about a variety of men’s health issues. You can opt for the heavier articles to educate yourself on the basics of topics like penile cancer, or you can read something lighter like how to grow the perfect ‘stache.

The Mask You Live In by The Representation Project
Documentary: available online through Kanopy
This film explores society’s definition of masculinity and how it can be detrimental to the mental health of the very gender it claims to define. It follows the lives of 11 boys and demonstrates not only what needs to be changed to fix the “boy crisis”, but also how we can raise a healthier generation of young men.

Dr. Patrick Walsh's Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer by Patrick C. Walsh
Book: available in print
Written by the world’s foremost authority on prostate cancer, this book is a vital no-nonsense guide that aims to help men understand, prevent, and treat prostate cancer, the most common cancer among men. It’s now in its fourth edition.

Men’s Private Parts by Dr. James H. Gilbaugh

Clifton Hill, Casino Niagara, Niagara Parks Commission — as much as there is to do in Niagara Falls, there's not always a lot for residents, especially if you're not looking to spend much money.

Sleep Cheap is great, but the rest of the year there's always Niagara Falls Public Library.

Because of our famous location, the city's hotel industry has a long and intriguing history. One such hotel that might not be as widely known as its more famous neighbours is the Hotel Lafayette.
