What is the most priceless possession you own? Some might say their home, or their car, while others may say a precious family heirloom. The things that are priceless to us are felt on an emotional level, deep within us. That is exactly what the MasterCard credit card company knew all those 23 years when it launched its now affectionately known priceless ad campaign. The campaign used everyday purchases, some small and some large and listed them off in simple fashion one by one ending with an emotional connection that money could not buy. The concept was brilliant but actually makes a whole lot of sense when you think about it. The things of life can simply be purchased but the emotional connections we have with each other and our community connectedness cannot be purchased.
What does this have to do with the Library? Well, it’s the beginning of a new year and typically many of us take stock in what’s important and how we’ll move forward in the year ahead. I’d like to make a suggestion - go get yourself a Library card. If you have a card, take it out and give us a call; we’ll renew it and away you go. I will encourage you all to visit one of our four Library locations in Niagara Falls or to check out our website at my.nflibrary.ca to find out what’s going on. From creating computer code for kids to getting in on a guided meditation class for adults, there’s always something at the library you can connect with and the experiences you have will lead to a lifetime of good memories and a greater sense of wellbeing. To get a free Library card, Niagara Falls residents will need to show us a piece of identification with their Niagara Falls address on it. For those who have very little identification, please ask the Library staff for what else you can use. Niagara Falls Public Library has entered into a reciprocal borrowing agreement with Fort Erie, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Thorold and Welland Public Libraries. This agreement permits Niagara Falls Public Library cardholders to get a free library card from these libraries and borrow items from their collection. Cardholders from these libraries are also eligible to get a free library card from Niagara Falls Public Library.
The new year is upon us and your Library has many great programs being offered and our new reading, listening and viewing collections are arriving weekly. New iPad - $500, new fluffy pillow - $35, time spent snuggling with your kids watching great movies using your Library card - priceless! See you soon at the Library.

The Niagara Falls Public Library temporarily closed our doors at all four locations on Friday, March 13th 2020 until April 5th 2020. This was our immediate response to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and align with provincial measures to support social distancing.
The Niagara Falls Public Library is offering a wide range of Gardening, Health and Wellness programs this Spring! According to the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, a library is a collection of books, periodicals, recordings, electronic reference materials, etc for use by the public or members of a group. There are four more definitions if one is interested in reading them.

2019 was an exciting year for the Niagara Falls Public Library. We hosted some incredible programs, introduced some amazing new collections, and had a lot of fun. However, it was you, the customer, that really made last year so wonderful.
While doing some research the other day, I came across the name of a hotel that I had never heard of before. This is probably due to the fact that there is very little information to be found about the Bath House Hotel.
It’s hard to define in one sentence what we do at the Niagara Falls Public Library in providing excellent customer service, so I thought I would give you a glimpse into a day in the life of a customer service associate at the Library. Some staff arrive prior to opening time to prepare workspaces and to gather and sort items from our overnight drop boxes.
Chevron. Handlebar. Fu Manchu. Yes, Movember is upon us and seeing as we’re more than halfway through the month those moustaches should be fully grown! While the facial hair keeps things fun, it’s important to remember that the purpose of it all is to raise awareness of men’s health issues.
