Summer has arrived, and the Niagara Falls Public Library is busy with something for everyone! Be sure to pick up our Summer Library Magazine to learn about all the exciting programs and events happening this summer.
Once again the Niagara Falls Public Library has partnered with the TD Summer Reading Club to promote a love for reading long after school is over. Stop by any library location to pick your free registration kit. The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest bilingual summer reading program, where kids of all ages, interests and abilities can read books, have fun and earn prizes. Back by popular demand: read for beads! Build your own personalized bead necklace, bracelet or keychain one book at a time.
Summer Reading Drop-In Fun has started at the Niagara Falls Public Library. There’s more to summer reading than books and beads. Kids of all ages can drop-in to the library and explore a whole bunch of different hands-on games and activities! Come by Victoria Avenue on Mondays, Stamford on Tuesdays, Chippawa on Wednesdays and Community Centre on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and explore. Drop-In fun will start the week of July 8th.
This summer we will be taking our Summer Reading Club on the road! From July 2 - August 23 our library staff will be popping up at Niagara Falls Parks and Pools! Be sure to check out our Parks and Pool Outreach Calendar to find out where we will be. Come say hi, participate in Summer Reading and play fun games!
The TD Summer Reading club isn’t just for kids! Teens! Do you love escape rooms? So do we! Visit our website throughout the summer to beat our online escape rooms. Each escape room you beat gives you a chance to win prizes. Be sure to complete all five online escape rooms throughout the summer to maximize your chance to win! Or if you’re bored, drop by the Victoria Avenue Library’s Oakes Room Media Lab for a couple hours of creativity with audio and video recording, photo editing, 3D printing and musical instruments.
For adults, there’s Summer Reading Bingo. Pick up a bingo card at any library location! Get a bingo and return your card by August 18th for your chance to win a prize.
We also have Summer Yoga and Meditation at our Victoria Library. This combination gentle yoga and meditation class is the perfect addition to your mid-summer mornings. Whether you are just learning about meditation or yoga or are seeking to deepen your practice, we welcome you to join us Wednesday in July at 11:00 a.m.

Because of our famous location, the city's hotel industry has a long and intriguing history. One such hotel that might not be as widely known as its more famous neighbours is the Hotel Lafayette.

Honeymoons and the City of Niagara Falls have gone hand in hand for a very long time, with the first documented Niagara Falls honeymoon occurring in June of 1801. Theodosia Burr (the American vice president’s daughter) and her husband Joseph Alston visited the city on a delayed honeymoon that even included a visit with the famous Mohawk Chief Joseph Brant.
