- A maximum of 10 items can be borrowed in one visit.
- Please keep your visit to a maximum of 1 hour to allow others to use our services.
- During busy times you may have to wait to enter.
- Most materials are available to borrow, with the following exceptions: Board Games, Nature Kits, Book Club Kits, and Magazines.
- All materials will have a 3 week borrowing period.
- Until December 31, 2020, there will be no fines charged on overdue items.
- Where possible, please return all materials through the exterior return boxes at each Library.
Q: What safety precautions is the Library taking with the materials I’m borrowing?
A: When library materials are returned through return boxes, they are quarantined for 96 hours. When library materials are returned by customers, they are quarantined for 96 hours. The Library must also quarantine all items that customers have touched while browsing for 96 hours. After the quarantine period, items are individually wiped with a medical-grade disinfectant before they are checked in and reshelved.
Q: Why was the decision made to quarantine items for 96 hours?
A: Niagara Region Public Health and the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health have made the recommendation that items are quarantined for 96 hours.
Q: Why am I limited to borrowing only 10 items in one pickup?
A: As mentioned above, the Library must quarantine browsed items and recently returned items. Space for quarantining items at all Library locations is limited. To allow for an efficient quarantining workflow, and to be fair to all who want to borrow, we are limiting customers to 10 items in one visit or pick up. We will continue to monitor this limit and will increase it if and when we are able.
Q: Why is the Library not open for longer hours or on more days?
A: Extra time and staffing is required for enhanced cleaning of all Library locations. We are also open for limited hours at this time based on customer demand. We will continue to monitor demand.
Q: My account says I owe some fines. Do I have to pay those before I borrow?
A: No, at this time. However, all previous fines on customer accounts can be paid in person.
Q: Why isn't Stamford open for Browse, Borrow, Go?
A: Stamford is currently offering holds pick up while we get ready for some renovations.
Q: Will I be able to get a new Library card during Browse, Borrow, Go hours?
A: Yes, please bring acceptable proof of your Niagara Falls address to receive a new card or replace an old one.
