Power your discovery this February at the Niagara Falls Public Library

Family Day is Monday, February 18, and the Community Centre and Victoria Avenue Libraries will be open from 11:00am - 3:00pm, with a special family drop-in program from 11:30am - 1:30pm. We will also have a 3D Design and Print Drop-in program running at the Victoria Avenue Library from 11:30am - 2:30pm. The Stamford Centre and Chippawa Libraries will be closed on Family Day.

Is your child ready to babysit? Have them attend our Babysitting Basics course presented by St. John Ambulance on Saturday, February 16 from 9:00am - 3:30pm. This course teaches new babysitters the skills necessary to care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Register by calling St. John Ambulance at 905-356-7340.

New Teen Programs!! Starting Monday, February 4th at 3:00pm is our weekly After-school Coding Club. If you’re a complete beginner, come give it a try. If you already have some coding experience, come build and share your skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. This program will be held weekly on Mondays at Stamford. Are video games more your speed? Test your skills on our Nintendo during our Switch-On: Teen Edition program starting at 3:15pm on Mondays at the Community Centre.

Join us for a screening of the National Film Board production titled “Reel Injun”, 2009. In this feature-length documentary, Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond takes an entertaining and insightful look at the portrayal of North American Indigenous people throughout a century of cinema. Featuring hundreds of clips from old classics as well as recent releases, the film traces the evolution of the “Hollywood Indian.” Following the screening, join us for a Reconciliation Dialogue facilitated by Karl Dockstader and Sean VanderKlis, hosts of One Dish, One Mic podcast. This discussion will be recorded as a special podcast edition. This event is being held at 6:00pm on Thursday, February 21 in the Victoria Avenue Library.

For everyone, the Oakes Room Media Lab at the Victoria Avenue Library is open for bookings. With 3D printers, audio and video recording equipment and software you can convert your old LPs to digital audio files, convert your 8mm film and VHS video tapes to digital video files, or bring your creative project to life.

Finally, to better serve you, the Community Centre Library and Victoria Avenue Library have changed their weekend hours. Both locations will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am - 3:00pm.

Niagara Falls Public Library launched its Seed to Seed collection May 17.

If you come to any of the library's four locations across Niagara Falls you can "borrow" up to three packages of seeds.

After you've planted the seeds and harvested your vegetables, you can set aside some seeds to give back to the library so another person can enjoy the collection.
