Our three Summer Reading Clubs are a fun and interactive way for kids, teens, families, and adults to include more reading in their summer.

Every Child Ready to Read (Up to Age 5)
This reading club for readers up to age 5 is based on the five practices of Every Child Ready to Read: play, talk, write, sing, and read. Log your child’s reading minutes to earn bead points, complete activities in Beanstack and in the TDSRC notebook, and collect badges that match the stickers in the notebook.

FAQ
How do you join?
Summer Reading will be on Beanstack again this summer! Visit the Beanstack website or download the app to register. Email programming@nflibrary.ca or call the library
at 905-356-8080 if you have any questions.
When does registration begin?
All of our Summer Reading Clubs will officially begin on Saturday, June 18th - Get Your Summer Read On Day!
How does it work?
Once you sign up with Beanstack, you will be able to register for any of our Summer Reading Clubs that fit your age. As soon as you’re registered for your challenge, you can start participating in activities and logging your reading minutes.
What can I read?
Anything you want and in any format you want - hardcover books, paperback books, eBooks, audiobooks - there are so many options! Choose whichever format and language works for you and read whatever interests you. Having someone read to you can also count!
Who can join?
We welcome ALL children, teens, families, and adults to take part.
Are beads back?
YES! We’re so happy to bring back our beads this summer! Readers up to age 13 will track their reading in Beanstack and visit the library to get their beads. This year, you will earn 1 bead point for every 20 minutes of reading. You can get 1 bead for every point OR you can save up your points and get special beads. It’s up to you!
The beads we have this year are:
- Multicoloured Bead = 1 point
- Pearl Bead = 2 points
- Glow in the Dark Bead = 3 points
- Sparkle Bead = 4 points
- Metallic Bead = 5 points
- Star Power Bead = 6 points
Are there prizes this year?
Any child (up to age 13) who reads at least 5 hours and any teenager or adult (14+) who reads at least 10 hours by the end of the summer will be entered to win two passes to Niagara Parks attractions and historic sites (value $416.78) courtesy of Niagara Parks.
All reading minutes must be logged on Beanstack to qualify for the prize.
I've heard something about a trophy?
We're launching the Inaugural “Readers Cup” this year! The Niagara Falls school whose students read the most minutes over the course of the Summer Reading Club will win the Readers Cup. Library staff will present it to the school at an assembly in the fall and the school will keep it for display until the following summer.
