Borrow Free Park Permits at NFPL

It’s only the end of January, but admit it: we can already sense that warmer weather is on its way. And with that comes the desire to get out of the cities and explore the great outdoors.
Fortunately for us Ontarians, we have over 100 beautiful provincial parks to visit when we want to spend some time in nature. Unfortunately for some Ontarians, those parks also require entry fees that can be prohibitive to individuals and families who are on a budget.
That’s just one of the reasons that the Niagara Falls Public Library is proud to announce that we have partnered with Ontario Parks to lend out day-use vehicle permits. Each of our 4 library locations will have 3 permits available for library customers to borrow when it is safe to do so.
The permits provide free day-use access to any Ontario Provincial Parks where fees are collected. The pass does not include camping fees, but is for day-use entry for all occupants in the vehicle (excluding buses).
You can borrow a permit from the Niagara Falls Public Library once a year for up to 3 weeks. To do so, please call us at 905-356-8080 or visit our online catalogue to place a hold. All you need is a valid Niagara Falls library card.
"Getting outdoors and spending time in nature can have a profound positive impact on our health and well-being, and this has become even more evident during COVID-19," said Jeff Yurek, Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. "Cost should not be a barrier to enjoying these important benefits, which is why we are helping to make Ontario Parks more affordable and accessible to all."
