Library Service Update

While the world has been busy working through how to deal with the coronavirus, the Library has been working hard on how to provide services and more recently, how to re-open safely.

At NFPL, the Customer Service team has been working hard at perfecting the Curbside Pick Up service at the Victoria Avenue Library and by adding to that a ‘Take and Go’ service at the 3 other library locations in the city. Reserved Library materials can even be picked up now at the Niagara Falls Saturday Farmers Market.

Library teams are currently working on a plan to add additional services. Libraries do their research and best practices will allow us to open for more services soon in a safe manner. In the meantime, let’s do a recap of what’s available and how to contact NFPL.

Online is where it’s at if you like reading and listening to books, magazines, newspapers and watching movies. NFPL provides several digital platforms to enhance your learning and leisure times. CloudLibrary offers an array of books for reading and listening to, including hot new bestsellers. Hoopla offers 5 credits per month for an enormous selection of digital video (movies and TV shows), music, audiobooks, ebooks and comics.
Kanopy offers 5 credits per month for one of the most unique and compelling collections of film on the planet. Kanopy's films range from documentaries, indie and foreign films, must-see classics and blockbuster movies. Due to the COVID-19 situation, Kanopy is also currently offering credit-free viewing on Kanopy Kids!  If it’s the news you’re interested in, then check out PressReader. This app allows you to read 1,000’s of newspapers and magazines from around the world. To check out these and more of our educational resources and digital platforms go to the library’s web page at

Need to get a Library card to use our digital services? Check out our web page and fill in the form to get your started using our great services. Need to print some resumes or other documents and don’t have a printer? At this time, we have a free printing service, just fill out the form on our web page and upload your file to be printed. Once it’s done, we will contact you and you can come and pick it up.

The holidays are over and spring is just around the corner so it sounds like a good time to purge, as they say, all that is unnecessary and start fresh. This may be easier said than done. For some of us, it means clearing out all that we had collected in 2020 and packing it up for donation or worse yet, the landfill!


It’s only the end of January, but admit it: we can already sense that warmer weather is on its way. And with that comes the desire to get out of the cities and explore the great outdoors.

On June 8, the Niagara Falls Public Library began Curbside Pick Up at the Victoria Avenue Library location. As a compliment to the digital collection, the Library is offering access to its physical collections through a Pick Up service that is safe for customers and Library staff.
