Preschool Early Literacy Programs

Fall Programs flyer

Niagara Falls Public Library offers Early Literacy Programs for all ages - find the one that's right for you!

Register at any NFPL location. Fall programs run from October 9th to November 19th. Registration opens September 4th.

Literacy programs at Niagara Falls Public Library are FREE.
Registration is required, either in person at any NFPL location, by phone at 905-356-8080 or online.

 


Babytime

For the youngest babies and their adult caregivers. If you're not yet walking and talking, this is the program for you! Come and have fun with music, rhymes, tickles and bounces. Bring a blanket and let us introduce you and your baby to a variety of board books and activities.

For babies who are walking and talking and their adult caregivers. Join us for songs, stories, music and activities.

Time for 2s and 3s

For toddlers and preschoolers ready for a longer, more active program and their adult caregivers. Develop pre-literacy skills with books, songs, games, rhymes, movies, crafts and creative play. 45 minutes.

For children of all ages and their adult caregivers. Develop pre-literacy skills with books, songs, games, rhymes, movies, crafts and creative play. Please register all participating children - babes in arms do not require registration.

Creation Station

Glue and sparkles and paper, oh my! Join us for our Creation Station program to turn your imagination into art! We'll supply all the creative materials you'll need to make something dazzling. All ages.

Kids' Reading Club

Need a break after school? Sit back and relax while you listen to a great read-aloud chapter book. Parents do not attend the program. Ages 8+ years.

Kids' Reading Club Jr.

Need a break after school? Want to hear stories, colour and play games? Join us for our Kids' Reading Club Jr. program! Parents do not attend the program, but must stay in the library. Ages 5-7 years.

PD Day Drop-In Fun

It's your day off from school - live it up, library-style! Drop in for board games, Lego, crafts and more. You could even grab a few books to get you through the long weekend.

Kidding Around With Photoshop

Learn image editing basics using a variety of software and tools, beginning with very basic resizing and alterations and moving to more advanced layering and filters. Projects are age-appropriate and will give attendees the skills and inspiration necessary to advance further. Ages 8 years and up.

Building in 3D

Design and create 3D objects with the Library's Media lab's host of software and tools. Explore design concepts and prototyping, plan and build your 3D objects, and then print them with our 3D printers. Projects will focus on fun and friendly themes with results that can be put to use by learners of all ages. Ages 8 years and up.
Please be aware that prints will not be ready by the session's end.

St. John Ambulance Home Alone

The Home Alone program teaches participants how to deal with emergencies and other potentially serious situations as well as phone calls and visitors, recognize hazards and follow home safety procedures. They will also learn first aid basics, healthy eating, fire safety and how and when to use 911. Ages 9 years and up.

St. John Ambulance - Babysitting Basics

Developed by a team of child care professionals, trained babysitters, St. John Ambulance instructors and parents, this course teaches new babysitters the skills necessary to care for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. It emphasizes safety, dealing with emergencies and first aid basics.
